ECN 201 - Economics I


This course provides an overview of the fundamental principles of macroeconomics. Students will explore topics such as supply and demand, labor markets, economic growth, inflation, international trade, and monetary policy.

Outcomes
  • Identify basic macroeconomic concepts such as scarcity, opportunity cost, and comparative advantage.
  • Describe how key economic indicators (GDP, inflation, unemployment) are measured and what they represent.
  • Explain the aggregate demand and aggregate supply (AD-AS) model and how it relates to changes in the economy.
  • Summarize the main tools of fiscal policy and their purposes in managing the economy.
  • Describe the role of money, banks, and the Federal Reserve in the U.S. economy.Identify the effects of international trade, exchange rates, and globalization on the economy.
