MGT 623 - Starting and Running a New Venture This course provides a practical, hands-on approach to launching and managing a new business. Students will develop a comprehensive business model and go-to-market strategy, incorporating financial planning, operations, legal considerations, and leadership for growth.

Prerequisite(s): BL 558 AND FIN 610 , or MGT 420 AND MGT 403 , or BL 420 AND FIN 315 .
Outcomes
- Develop a business model and strategic launch plan using frameworks such as the Business Model Canvas and Lean Startup.
- Design operational workflows, resource plans, and performance metrics for early-stage businesses.
- Build a financial plan including startup costs, cash flow projections, and break-even analysis.
- Navigate legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements in forming and operating a new venture.
- Demonstrate leadership and team-building strategies that support growth and adaptability.
- Create a go-to-market and customer acquisition strategy using digital and traditional channels.
- Present a complete new venture plan to a simulated audience of investors or advisors, demonstrating communication, risk analysis, and strategic clarity.
